Lemonade

Lemonade is one of my favourite drinks. Besides being refreshing when it’s icy cold, it’s packed with vitamin C. Here’s a super easy and quick recipe, courtesy of Thermomix (TM31).

Cut 2 medium sized lemons into chunky eighths, about 500g and place in mixing bowl. Add 80g sugar, (yes it’s enough! The original recipe calls for 100g but believe me 80g is enough) and add 1 litre/4 cups water.

Press the turbo button for 1 second. Remove lid and place the basket inside the bowl. Strain lemonade into a pitcher and place in the refrigerator to cool. It is really good!

Sangria with Sparkling Wine and Berries

Para versão Portuguesa clique aqui: “Sangria de Espumante com Frutos Vermelhos”

Sangria is a typical beverage from Portugal and Spain. It is usually made of red wine, a spirit drink, soda pop, chopped fruit (apples, oranges, lemon, peaches) and sugar. This one is made of sparkling wine and berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, red currants). It’s sweetness makes it easy to drink so be careful not to get too tipsy…

1 bottle sparkling wine
1 can 7-Up
50ml whisky, vodka or rum
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 cup red and black berries
1 cinnamon stick
Ice-cubes
A few mint leaves

In a pitcher big enough to hold all the ingredients place de berries, sugar, cinnamon stick and whisky. Mix and let mixture infuse for at least 2 hours. Add 7-Up, sparkling wine and ice. Stir and serve.
